The Fukushima area of Yame is well known for the production of Yame Buddhist altars, going back to the 19th century. This is a hands-on class by a traditional lacquer craftsman, which is an essential technique for making a Yame Fukushima Buddhist altar. Experience finishing a set of your own lacquered chopsticks by sanding coats of lacquer and mother-of-pearl to make beautiful patterns.
