08. Stone lantern making
The history of stone lanterns dates back to Edo period when many stone bridges were built in Yame. It is known as one of Fukuoka Governor-designated Special Traditional Crafts nowadays.
This is a hands-on program by a stonemason, Mr.Yasuyoshi Hashiyama and let’s learn how to make a stone lantern using a chisel and a grinder. It is a very authentic craftsman work.
